Invasive Shrub and Small Tree Removal at Fort Custer State Rec Area

About the project: Join MUCC's OTG program at Fort Custer State Recreation Area in partnership with the Michigan DNR Parks & Recreation Division to remove small trees and invasive shrubs that are encroaching in a prairie management area. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 10 A.M. - 1 P.M. Gear, lunch, and volunteer gifts will be provided. 

 

Meeting location: Meet at the Whitford Lake picnic area. After entering the park continue past the Headquarters building, when the road Y’s take the right arm. Follow that road until it ends in a parking lot (do not turn off onto any dirt roads).

What to bring: Closed-toed boots, a warm coat, and a hat are highly recommended.  Attendees are also encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, although bottled water will be provided throughout the day. These projects will take place rain or shine unless there is severe weather so please dress accordingly.
