Region 8 Meeting - January 20th, 2018 - Click here to rsvp!

01/20/2018 01:00 PM - 04:00 PM ET

Description

Fellow Region 8 MUCC members:

First and foremost, this is an announcement of the upcoming Region 8 meeting. The meeting will take place at the Huron Pointe Sportsmen’s Association in Lenox Township (http://www.huronpointe.org/). (There is more info at the end of this message.)

The date for the meeting is Saturday, January 20, from 1 PM to 4 PM (Doors open and sign-in begins at 12 noon).  We hope that you can attend!!

A full agenda will be available and distributed prior to the meeting. The meeting will include:

  • A report from MUCC Executive Director Dan Eichinger on issues related to MUCC and activities that involve MUCC – with an opportunity for questions and discussion.

  • There are many conservation issues to discuss, paramount among them being the presence of CWD in our free-ranging deer herd.  Chad Stewart, the DNR Deer, Elk, and Moose biologist, will be presenting some of the newest data and a summary of the CWD Symposium this past October at MSU. Further information about the symposium and CWD can be found here.

  • Joe Robison and Todd Wills, from DNR Wildlife and Fisheries respectively, will share current information and answer questions.

  • Partly as a result of the September and the December MUCC Conservation Policy Board meetings, quite a few resolutions are being developed and prepared for the 2018 MUCC Convention.  Some resolutions are being put together by people in Region 8 and there is time to come forward with new ideas at this meeting.  If you have an idea for a resolution, contact one of the people listed at the end of this message.  The deadline for submission of resolutions is the March Conservation Policy Board Meeting.

  • Discussion of other issues brought up by MUCC Region 8 members.

This meeting is open to MUCC club members and MUCC individual members.  The six leaders in Region 8 encourage club members and individual members to attend the MUCC Annual Convention.  The six of us have also begun an effort to contact (and visit) each of the 57 clubs in Region 8 on an individual basis.  We would like to establish relationships with each club to:

  1. Identify issues and/or challenges important to each club and provide any help that might be possible;

  2. Work with each club that might be interested on the preparation of resolutions for convention;

  3. Convey information about the issues that MUCC is working on and the programs that are available;

  4. Assist with obtaining speakers for your club meetings on important issues;

  5. Providing ways to become more involved with MUCC in Region 8 and in general.

We encourage you to attend this meeting.  If you will be able to come, please RSVP to this message, as provided below, so that we have some idea of how to prepare.  We would really like to see many individual members and many club members!!  If you are not able to attend and would like a report on the meeting, please tell one of the six of us.  Contact one of us listed below if you have any questions or suggestions.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Yours in Conservation,

Kris Matthew, Region 8 Executive Board Director
